The battle for top honours in the Motorsport UK National Rally Title was a spectacular affair throughout the iconic Rally Mull which saw the British Rally Championship head to the island for the first time in its history.
Taking place mostly under the cover of darkness with only one full daylight leg, the gruelling event was the toughest in the calendar and Duns driver Garry Pearson and co-driver Niall Burns would need to be at the top of their game to be in with a chance of taking maximum points on the island.
But it was a tough start to their Mull campaign as Pearson would struggle with brake issues throughout the weekend in his Mitsubishi Evo IX. With super-fast stages, mixed with tight and technical sections, the Evo would struggle to keep up with the leaders.
Adding to that task, Pearson was caught out on a difficult section, putting the Mitsubishi off the road and left the duo with a lot of work to do over the closing stages of the rally.
But a relentless drive over the remainder of the rally saw them storm back into the lead to claim their second National win of 2021 as the series switches back to gravel for the Cambrian Rally at the end of October.
