The Galloway Hills Rally falls this Saturday 8th September, held in Dumfries and Galloway based around Castle Douglas the event is the final round of the Scottish Rally Championship 2018. The final event sees either Donnie Macdonald or Andrew Gallagher crowned the new SRC Champion after both have had a consistent year.
Garry Pearson & Dale Bowen however are set to be in the mix one again, after an impressive return at the Grampian Rally in August, the 2016 SRC Runner-Up had this to say, “We’re looking forward to it. The mileage at the Grampian was very good for our confidence and Dale settled in well. I think the stages look great and the competition is fierce with David Bogie & it being Jock Armstrong’s home event, but our aim must be to finish and get more seat time.”
Pearson, off at Car 3, suffered an early setback this year with a broken leg so is now fully focusing on preparing for the 2019 championship.
The Grampian and the Galloway Hills Rally both set as ‘seat time’ as opposed to trying for the overall win. Dale Bowen had his first time out on the stages with Garry at the Grampian and the pair hit it off well.
“The Grampian was a good event and I’m keen to see how we can build on our pace there and develop together at the Galloway Hills. For our first time out, I think we done pretty well”, said the Welshman.
The pair set off at Car 3 from Castle Douglas at 9am on Saturday morning following David Bogie into the stages.
Once again thank you, as always, to all our kind sponsors. We have several sponsors coming along for a high-speed rally stage on Friday the 7th September which we will report on after the event.
