Garry Pearson from Duns will be competing in his first World Championship Rally this weekend – Wales Rally GB is the final round of this year’s World Rally Championship. Unfortunately, the week did not get off to a good start when Garry’s co-driver Dave Robson had to withdraw from the event due to illness and Niall Burns from Ireland stepped in at the last minute. It was always going to be a steep learning curve for Garry with Wales Rally GB being more than twice the competitive miles than the usual events he competes in, however having a new co-driver that he has never met before has raised the bar even higher.
Garry is seeded third R2 car in his Peugeot 208 and will be again competing against Chris Ingram who is the first seed in his category in a similar car backed by Peugeot UK.
The event starts from Colwyn Bay on Thursday and finishes at Llandudno on Sunday after over 300 kilometres of Special Stages and 1000 kilometres of road sections.
